His bachelor thesis was supervised and accompanied by Professor Dr. Michael Hagen (Advanced technical college of Cologne) and Josef Andrek (IGOS). The topic of his bachelor thesis was a comparing investigation of inclusions in five stainless machining steels following the norms DIN EN ISO 10247 and the SEP 1572. At the same time corrosion tests of the different steels were done and evaluated. Mr. Motzko has achieved his subject-linked eligibility of university admission in 2011 as a part of his successfully completed apprenticeship as a technical assistant for metallography and material science at the technical school in Solingen (TBK). Demands on coating systems are constantly increasing. In order to emulate the many kinds of weathering and corrosion encountered in the real world, manufacturers, in particular those in the automotive industry, require ever more complex and demanding corrosion tests. We have responded to these demands by installing our new corrosion testing centre.
