General activities
The institute's well-appointed laboratory has at its disposal equipment and processes for both classic and instrument-based analyses, allowing electrolyte and environmental parameters to be determined across a broad range of concentrations.
Photometry
For example, the concentration of hexavalent chrome on the surface of materials (chromating / passivation) is determined using photometry in accordance with DIN EN ISO 3613 section: 5.5.2.
Standard methods in electrochemistry
As well as these special processes, IGOS has at its disposal all the standard methods in electrochemistry, such as hull cells for the regular monitoring of production solutions or for determining the behaviour of an electrolyte when new electrolytes are being introduced.
Measuring equipment can be used, for example, for monitoring the stresses developing in electroplated coatings with a view to optimising the layers and process. (Equipment: MSM200)
